On the second Saturday in June, gin lovers around the world will unite in celebration of all things juniper-based for the 11th year in a row. In Melbourne, The Melbourne Gin Company (MGC) will host a special lunch to join the festivities of World Gin Day 2019.
The event will take place on 8 June from 12:00pm above The European, one of Melbourne’s iconic locations, in the private Tea Room. Reminiscent of a Victorian era Gentleman’s Club, the Tea Room is hidden behind a non-descript wooden door sandwiched between The City Wine Shop and the European as part of The European Group family.
Playing on the unique skills of Andrew Marks, the man behind The Melbourne Gin Company and chief winemaker at Gembrook Hill Vineyard, this will be no ordinary Saturday lunch. The MGC team have embarked on a journey into alchemy to present guests with a range of cocktails that combine both wine and gin coming from the cool climate of the southern Upper Yarra Valley, Gembrook.
Stepping outside of the comfort zone of traditional food and wine pairing, these cocktails will be accompanied by a three-course menu in the best tradition of The European Group.
