Lello Pasta Bar is an Italian restaurant and bar located on Flinders Lane in Melbourne CBD, serving handmade pasta, pizza and modern Italian cuisine.
The pasta is prepared from scratch each day in their kitchen, by Head Chef Leo Gelsomino. A Melbourne boy born and bred, his Mum and Dad never let go of their cultural roots—so it was here, in the family’s home kitchen, where Leo developed a taste for cooking his native cultural cuisine.
Prior to Lello, Leo was executive chef at Richmond’s Italian fine dining restaurant, The Grand. He joined the Lello team back in 2011 when they were known as Yak Italian Kitchen—but since then have had a little facelift and adopted his childhood name, Lello.
Lello might not be the trendiest Italian restaurant in Australia’s foodie capital, but they have been here a long time and they are proud of their food. No shortcuts, no mass-produced pasta; everything from the salumi to the dough is made fresh each day in the kitchen.
