COVID-19 UPDATE: With greater Melbourne facing Stage 3 restrictions again, Phaedrus Estate will only open for take away bottle sales every weekend. Unfortunately wine tastings, sales for consumption and cheese platters are unavailable. In the meantime they hope you and your family and friends remain healthy.
Most weekends you will find Ewan or Maitena at their cellar door, taking guests through a relaxed tasting. They love chatting to people about their wines, as well as wine making and grape growing in general. Both are happy to share their knowledge, about things as simple as how a red wine is made, through to complex questions about clones and soil chemistry.
The cellar door is open every weekend. Cheese platters are available, with an extensive range of Mornington Peninsula, Victorian and International cheeses. Or you can bring your own picnic.
Phaedrus Estate was established in 1997. Twenty years later Ewan Campbell and Maitena Zantvoort are still enjoying the challenge of making Pinot Noir and other cool climate varietal wines, including Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Shiraz. 2017 saw the release of a new varietal wine – Fiano. The wines are well loved by their regular customers as well as new tasters.
In 2017, Phaedrus also launched their Mornington Peninsula Distillery Beach Box Gin, which is also on tasting at the cellar door.
