The Aquarium of Western Australia (AQWA) is the state’s major marine attraction and is located just 20 minutes north of the Perth central business district, on the lapping shores of the Indian Ocean at Hillarys Boat Harbour.
AQWA has been an iconic attraction for over 35 years and allows tourists and locals alike to discover Western Australia’s vast coastline and spectacular marine life on an underwater journey – in just one day!
On your visit you will explore over 45 unique exhibits, showcasing only native Western Australian marine life, ranging from toothy grey nurse sharks and saltwater crocodiles, to quirky cuttlefish and unbelievable beauties like Seadragons.
Highlights include the Shipwreck Coast, Australia’s largest single aquarium featuring a nearly 100-metre-long underwater tunnel. You can even pre-book to Dive or Snorkel with Sharks inside this impressive three million-litre aquarium. There’s also an interactive Touch Pool and one of the largest living coral reef exhibits in the world, showcasing iconic Rottnest Island species.
