Explore the Australian Outback and deserts on a Global Gypsies self-drive four-by-four (4X4) tag-along tour – independent but not alone! On these award-winning 4×4 expeditions, you drive your own (or a hired) four-wheel-drive (4WD) travelling in a small convoy led by an expert guide.
You’ll explore remote areas, camp in the bush, admire the night skies, learn about the places you visit and get back to nature. The professional tour leader is an experienced four-wheel driver and a qualified mechanic with a remote first aid certificate and an in-depth understanding of the bush. No previous off-road experience is necessary as 4×4 tuition is included in the package.
Accommodation is in tents in campgrounds, caravan parks and bush camps. We also organise self-drive safaris suitable for caravans, camper-trailers and motorhomes.

Highlights include Newman, remote and rugged Rudall River National Park, Desert Queen Baths, Carawine Gorge, Mount Augustus – the Ayers Rock of Western Australia, the Kennedy Ranges and Carnarvon.
A four-wheel drive vehicle equipped with a vehicle-mounted two-way radio is mandatory for this tour. Sorry, no caravans due to rough road conditions but robust camper trailers are welcome.
