Using the knowledge and stories passed down by the Elders and by walking on Boodja (Country) that the Noongar ancestors were custodians of for thousands of years, hunting and gathering for ceremonial rituals, marriages and daily life, provides Kurrah Mia’s Noongar tour guides with a unique and privileged opportunity to showcase this ancient culture and landscape. Be welcomed into Menang Boodja (country) by one of their tour guides and learn about flora and fauna. Listen to traditional stories on Country and see the land through their eyes.

Barang Yabera Bush Walk

Gain a unique understanding of local Menang Noongar culture through “coming on country” and experiencing where and how Aboriginal people moved throughout the landscape in their fully guided Aboriginal Cultural tour. Learn about the environment, anthropological and cultural aspects of the Menang People who, for over 40,000 years have lived in this area.

Discover local knowledge, explore and venture into amazing Menang Aboriginal cultural sites and ancient wisdom. On your tour you will have professional interpretive guides who have extensive knowledge of geology, fauna, flora, Indigenous culture and their stories will accentuate your experience.

Visit ancient camping grounds, meeting places and traditional fishing grounds. Kurrah Mia offers guests a sensory experience while exploring some of the region’s natural environment. You will develop a connection to country as you walk and listen carefully to what nature and these wonderful sites have to share with you.

Coorndarup (Mt Clarence) Walking Tour

Join Kurrah Mia Walking Tours on a 1.5 hour leisurely paced, guided tour on Corndarup (Mt Clarence) in the Albany Heritage Park. You will gain an unique wealth of knowledge about the Menang heritage, cultural traditions and beliefs.

Spend time walking in the footprints of the Menang people exploring how the landscape of Kinjarling (Albany) supported the economic, spiritual and cultural needs of the Menang people for over 40,000 years.

Learn how they used ochre, plants, stone, bone, animals and fire for hunting, medicine, gathering, tools and food. Walk with an experienced Menang Noongar guide to explore the past traditions and knowledge. At the end of the tour enjoy some tea and damper.

Quaranup Aboriginal Walking Tour

Live for a while in a creative, spiritual way of traditional Aboriginal life, discovering an ancient and inspiring culture on Kinjarling Boodja.

This tour follows the paths walked by the Menang people to Quaranup (Kwooranup – place of brush tail wallaby) to see ancient stone structures, waterholes, artefacts, engravings and flora and fauna.

Travel around the coast of Kinjarling (Albany), to the Quaranup Cultural Site. Walk along the beach or dunes to ancient engravings and tool quarry sites. Tides permitting, guests can walk out and look for shellfish amongst the rocks. Hear the Dreaming stories of the area spending 2 hours sharing cultural wisdom, walking, activities, photos and connecting with country.
