The Margaret River Region’s Augusta is the nearest town to Cape Leeuwin, on the far south-west corner of Western Australia. Located where the Blackwood River spills into Flinders Bay, Augusta is just a short distance from the end of the Cape to Cape Track.
From June to August, keen eyes look towards the waters of Augusta’s Flinders Bay, where the migrating humpback and southern right whales gather for a little rest and play before continuing on their journey north to the breeding grounds.
While these majestic creatures can often be spotted close to the shore, a whale watching tour will give you the most memorable encounter, getting you closer to the breaching, spy-hopping and tail-slapping action.
Legend Charters operate their much loved Whale Watching tours daily throughout this period departing daily at 10am and 2pm from the Augusta Boat Harbour and returning two to three hours later.

The protected waters around Dunsborough in beautiful Geographe Bay is a perfect launching point for your Dunsborough Whale Watching Tour.
Legend Charters conduct their annual whale watching cruises in this area between August and November from Quindalup Beach (Professional Fisherman’s boat ramp, Geographe Bay Rd), Dunsborough and between June and August from the Augusta Boat Harbour (one hour drive south of Dunsborough).
Humpback, Southern Right, Minke and Blue Whales use their little corner of the world as a nursery, playground and rest haven during their migration up and down the coast each year. They are often as curious about people as people are about them, coming close to the boat to check everyone out.
Both Dolphins and Seals are also regularly sighted during their tours and as well as stunning views of the unique coastline.
