Come spend some time seeing a few of the resources sector highlights of the Burrup Peninsula including the Karratha Gas Plant, the Yara Pilbara Fertilisers, Dampier Salt mine and the Rio Tinto Iron Ore trains.
Be immersed in the beauty of Hearson’s Cove; see some of the historical locations that Red Dog has visited and see what’s been happening in the City of Karratha. You may even get to visit the Homestead of the cattle station on which the City of Karratha is now located, Karratha Station.

Heading out from Karratha to Roebourne on the North West Coastal Highway, you may encounter cattle roaming onto the road from the surrounding cattle station, Karratha Station. You will also pass over the Robe River/Hamersley Iron/Rio Tinto rail line that makes its way to Cape Lambert from the mining towns of Pannawonica and Tom Price. You may even get to see the huge ‘stackers’ and ‘reclaimers’ that are used to stockpile and then feed the massive bulk iron ore carriers that berth at Cape Lambert. Then onto Point Samson for some lunch and/or light refreshments and then to the historic town of Cossack on the return to Karratha.
This tour will encompass a 1.5 hour drive to the picturesque Python Pool situated in the Millstream Chichester National Park and then on to Millstream Homestead taking in the beauty of the perennial Deep Reach Pool and enjoying a barbecue lunch. You may even take a detour to Harding Dam on the return journey.
