1 Oct 2018 to 30 Apr 2019
The Field of Light: Avenue of Honour will be an immersive art installation created by internationally-acclaimed artist Bruce Munro. 13,000 shining spheres will line the Avenue of Honour at Mount Clarence paying homage to the 41,000 troops who departed from Albany for the Great War. Highlighting the region’s unique sense of place and identity, Field of Light: Avenue of Honour will symbolise wild beauty, sacrifice, courage, hope and honour.
The thousands of glass spheres will be planted along the avenue at Albany Heritage Park by local volunteers, gently illuminating the tree-lined path with an artwork blooming at night like wildflowers after rain of light.
The Field of Light: Avenue of Honour art installation opens from the 5 October until 25 April 2019 and is a free attraction.
