4 Dec 2021 to 5 Dec 2021 Annual Event
The King of the Cut (KOTC) is one of Australia’s premier long distances Stand Up Paddle (SUP) board downwind races. Competitors paddle 24 km along the Mandurah coastline, from “The Dawesville Cut” to Secret Harbour. The paddlers are helped by Western Australia’s famously consistent sea breeze, the Fremantle Doctor, as they catch runners (waves generated by the wind) whilst they paddle.
For 2021 it is envisioned that the field will be up to a maximum of 200 craft made up of a mixture of Stand Up Paddle Boards, Stand Up Foil Boards, Prone Paddle Boards, Out Riggers and Surf skis.
There is a mass start for competitors inside the safety of the breakwater at Dawesville Cut, after which they venture into the open ocean and make their way to Secret Harbour before crossing the finish line on the beach.
