The Gibb Challenge

Community Event

17 May 2019 to 24 May 2019

The Gibb Challenge is an extraordinary week long cycling adventure, tracing the iconic Kimberley stock route of the Gibb River Road from the deep port town of Derby, through the vast pastoral leases of the central and east Kimberley and on to the community celebrations of the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster.

The Gibb Challenge is a socially competitive, team relay mountain bike event promoting active recreation whilst raising community awareness and funds for charity. In 2019 they’re once again supporting the invaluable aeromedical services of the Royal Flying Doctor Service with an ambitious fund-raising target of AUD500,000.00

The Gibb Challenge now features an exciting prologue stage in Broome and hosts the Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) Fat Bike National Championships. Set on world-acclaimed Cable Beach, the Championships use improvised and natural beach obstacles to create a unique race experience for elite and competitive riders from across Australia.

Nominations open each November with the event aligned to the Kimberley Moon Experience in May.
