12 Feb 2021 to 16 Apr 2021 Weekly Event
“Nyumbi” means celebration dance in the Nyoongar language. Experience the world’s oldest living culture through music and dance at Yagan Square.
Immerse yourself in Western Australia’s Aboriginal culture as Nyoongar dancers perform traditional song and dance and share stories of our rich culture and history. Afterwards, witness a traditional smoking ceremony which is used to cleanse and purify the spirit, body and soul.
This free event is a great way to start your evening out in the vibrant city of Perth.
Yagan Square is one of the city’s most popular community, meeting and celebration spaces. With plenty of dining options you will be spoilt for choice. During summer, there is the Twilight Hawker’s Market which is Perth’s original and biggest street food market in nearby Forrest Chase.
The Cultural Centre which is a short walk from Yagan Square is home to the State Theatre, State Library and the State Museum which opened in November 2020 following extensive renovations and refurbishment.
The Perth Busport is located in Yagan Square. Perth Underground and Train Station are also only a few minutes by foot making this public space very accessible by public transport.
** Nyumbi will not run on Christmas Day or New Years Day **
