If you’re short on time or prefer to travel by plane, fly into Rottnest Island Airport and fit more of Rotto’s 63 stunning beaches and 20 beautiful bays into your day which takes just minutes and along the way you’ll get breathtaking views of Perth’s city skyline, Swan River, southern beaches and the reefs and bays of Rottnest. Between September and November, you might even spot humpback whales.
Located just 19 kilometres off the coast of Fremantle, Rottnest Island Airport is serviced daily with regular scheduled flights departing from Jandakot Airport (just over 20 minutes’ drive south of Perth Central Business District).
Taxi flights are generally 12 minutes, with the option of adding a short scenic detour along the coast. You can also choose to arrive in style by helicopter from Jandakot or Hillarys Boat Harbour and if you’re based near Mandurah, there are flights operating on demand.
Rottnest’s Shuttle Bus Service will get you to Thomson Bay, the island’s main settlement, where you can enjoy a long lunch, hire bikes and snorkel gear, or join the Bayseeker Bus or guided tours. This is also the best spot to snap a selfie with the world’s cutest mini marsupial, the quokka.
