Northern Territory Indigenous Tours’ founder Managing Director, Tess Atie, grew up with Marrathiel elders in the Darwin-Daly region and her husband Greg, a naturalist and photographer, are former park rangers with decades of experience, extensive education and family connections spanning countless generations, in the region. We bring our country to life with stories, knowledge, discussion, laughter and expert natural and cultural interpretation from an Aboriginal and natural history viewpoint. An intimate, interactive and flexible micro-group day tour from Darwin to Litchfield National Park and surrounds. Your personable Aboriginal guide for your Litchfield tour has an association with the area that goes back a thousand generations.
Your guide will meet you at your Darwin hotel and be whisked away in a safe, comfortable, air-conditioned four wheel drive where you’ll travel adventurous back roads to discover spectacular landscapes, fascinating pioneer heritage and a rich Aboriginal tradition.
You’ll learn from your guide’s intimate connection with the area and discuss Aboriginal culture and values. You’ll also get to taste bush tucker you would never have imagined, and lunch on fresh cooked wild barramundi, crocodile and kangaroo.
During the tour you will be an exclusive visitor to private family land at beautiful Woolaning Spring where you’ll explore spectacular waterfalls and stone country, ancient rainforest and unspoilt woodland, and learn their place in Aboriginal philosophy of the area.
You can swim in crystal clear natural pools in stunning settings where afterwards, settle into your air-conditioned four-wheel drive to be safely returned to your hotel in time to catch the sunset over Darwin Harbour.
