Cockatoo Island Fire Station Studio

Escape the hustle and bustle of modern life with a getaway or staycation at Cockatoo Island: a sanctuary on Sydney Harbour.

Formerly Cockatoo Island’s fire station, this tastefully restored studio apartment offers panoramic views across Parramatta River from its location on the lower island.

Featuring an open plan lounge, living and kitchen area – and just seconds away from Cockatoo Overboard Café and the Visitor Centre – you’ll have everything you need for the perfect getaway.

With easy access to picnic spots and waterfront cafes, it’s easy to see why Cockatoo Island is the perfect choice for your next Sydney stay!

Once occupied by Cockatoo Island’s dockyard launch driver and coxswain, their three charmingly restored Harbour View Apartments truly live up to their name.

Situated near Biloela Lawn on the upper island, each boasts a large entertaining balcony overlooking Sydney Harbour. Their Harbour View Apartments include a single room apartment for two guests (23C) plus two double bedroom apartments (23A and 23B), which can accommodate up to five guests each.

Built in 1916, their Garden Riverview Apartment can accommodate up to four guests across two bedrooms and boasts views of Woolwich and Hunters Hill.

The outdoor deck and barbeque are adjoined by a tranquil, enclosed garden, making it an ideal setting for entertaining company.

Craving an outdoorsy getaway? Stay in Cockatoo Island’s award-winning waterfront campground to enjoy unbeatable views of Sydney Harbour plus access to scenic picnic spots, BBQ and cafés!

The campground represents a unique experience – a night (or longer) under the stars in the heart of the world’s best harbour.

We offer five camping options, catering for a range of budgets, group sizes and occasions, including romantic getaways and family vacations.

Want to combine your love of the Great Outdoors with your desire for homely comforts? Select a Deluxe Package for a truly luxe experience.

Once home to Cockatoo Island’s medical officer and engineering manager, their two Federation-style heritage houses can each accommodate up to 12 people.

Set amidst lush gardens on the upper island, these beautifully restored dwellings – built circa 1913 – boast an outdoor barbeque and entertainment area, with views across to Hunters Hill.
