The Royal Hotel is your hub for all things Capertee, whether you are visiting the Capertee Valley (the 2nd largest Canyon in the World), or the Turon River, whether you are bushwalking, camping, birdwatching, fishing, or even gold panning, make the Royal Hotel your Central Point.

The last Pub/Hotel left on the Castlereagh Highway (Mudgee Road), the main road between Lithgow and Mudgee, the Royal Hotel has everything you need for your trip. Stop in for a meal or a cold drink or you can stay the night in our Accommodation. We also offer free parking for RVs and Caravans, we just ask that you buy a meal at the Hotel.

The Royal Hotel also has a BottleMart bottleshop for essential camping supplies!

The Royal Hotel is rich with history, the first timber version of the hotel was built around 1840 but it tragically burnt down in the early 1894. The story goes that the ladies of the community were fed up with their men spending too much time at the pub, so they torched it!

The original timber building was replaced with a stone building in 1895 and it is still standing proudly today. In 1880 the hotel became a railhead (where a railway line ends). In the old days, it used to be a three-week trip to Sydney but suddenly the railway line arrived and the trip became less than 24 hours.

Back then, there were more than 3,500 people living here whereas numbers have now dwindled to just 180. Fire seems to be a recurring theme at The Royal because in 1930, a traveling salesman left a candle next to a window and the curtains caught alight. But just as the fabled phoenix arises from the ashes, so too does the Royal Hotel Capertee.

Our bar has 12 Draught Taps with a combination of Draught Beers, Brookvale Union Ginger Beer, Hard Rated Lemon Squash, and Beers from the favourite Mudgee Brewery, Three-Tails Brewing.
For customers who want a beer without the risk, we carry Heineken Zero and Great Northern Zero.
Our White Wines feature a NZ Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Moscato. Our Red Wines feature Cabernet Suavignon, Merlot and Shiraz and a Rosé. For those that enjoy a bubbly we carry a Blanc de Blanc (dry sparkling white) and for those that like something sweeter, we have a Prosecco.
We have a wide range of spirits available also, available in nips, or RTD cans.
Soft drinks and water are available for those under 18, or those choosing to be alcohol-free.
Pets are welcome in the outdoor areas.
