Camping like it used to be, The Steps is a camping destination of spectacular natural beauty near Gloucester. This splendid campground sits at the most picturesque rapids on the Barrington River. Relive the best of your childhood camping experiences with an uncrowded campground, unspoilt river vistas and friendly wildlife.
The Steps is an authentic camping experience with year round appeal. Although it feels like wilderness, the brand new amenities block includes hot showers, flushing toilets, disabled access and filtered river water for drinking and cooking . The campground also features fire pits at each site, two large bonfire pits plus two permanent shelters that can be hired.
Easily accessed by two wheel drive vehicles, it’s suitable for camper trailers and most caravans but there are no powered sites. The bushland setting and the sound of the river flowing over the rapids will wash away your stress.
Please note, no pets are allowed due to the close proximity of native wildlife.

There are eight large camping areas onsite, each can accommodate several tents or camper trailers so they are perfect for small groups. A maximum of 150 persons is allowed at any one time so there’s still plenty of room for relaxing, swimming, and riding your mountain bike on the trails.
There are no powered sites.
The amenities block has flushing toilets and hot water showers, disabled access, male and female sections, with a total of 11 showers and seven toilets.
Rates
Seasonal prices apply for holidays and long weekends. Prices subject to change and availability. Child rate apply for children aged 2 to 11 years: from AUD15 to AUD24.
