The Red Rattler Retreat is truly a unique rural train carriage accommodation.
Offering visitors a delightful rural escape, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stay in their beautifully converted 1928 train carriage.
There are three queen-sized bedrooms, sleeping up to six people. It features a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining and laundry, with all the conveniences of home. Air-conditioners in each bedroom and one in the lounge, offering year-round. comfort.
Outdoor entertaining on the huge veranda that encompasses the entire carriage, is a must, with a barbecue located here. There is a silo bar and fire pit, so you can enjoy the cooler months outside. A bag of firewood and firelighters are supplied.
If searching for gold is on the itinerary, they have provided two gold pans and a pick, so you can try your luck in the creek opposite the front gate.
The Gold and Fleece Hotel is a 250-metre walk from the front gate, where you can enjoy wonderful counter meals and imbibe in a few beverages.
Located in the gold mining village of Windeyer, a short 30-minute drive from Mudgee on a tar-sealed road, 3.5 hours from Sydney.

Rates
2 nights minimum stay. Price is for the entire carriage, whether you are on your own or a family of 6, linen and towels are also supplied, plus tea, coffee and sugar, and salt & pepper.
