Nestled in the forested mountains of Mount Royal within the Barrington Tops in the northern Hunter Valley, visitors can discover a tranquil haven comprising a self-contained eco-cabin, bunkhouse lodging, and the option for bush camping. This idyllic retreat offers serenity, a mountainside shrouded in woods, and breathtaking 80-kilometre vistas spanning the valley, all underscored by the refreshing mountain air. Notably, the property ensures guests’ exclusive enjoyment, eliminating the need for sharing with others.
Located approximately three hours north of Sydney, it is conveniently positioned an hour away from the renowned Hunter Valley vineyards and in close proximity to the UNESCO-listed Barrington Wilderness. Here, guests can savour the sight of kangaroos and the melodies of forest birds, explore leisurely hiking trails, ascend nearby peaks for awe-inspiring panoramas, or merely unwind on the veranda.
The three-bedroom eco-cabin showcases an eco-conscious design with sustainable elements like solar electricity and a wood-fired stove for cooking and water heating. For those who seek a more rustic experience, a bunkhouse and secluded camping areas await in their private forest clearing, where groups can bask in the natural surroundings. Here, there is no internet connection or television to divert attention from the splendour of the outdoors.

The Eco-cabin has three small bedrooms that can sleep up to eight people; separate bathroom with shower and flush toilet; self contained kitchen and sunny lounge/dining room that can also sleep two more.
The cabin is a showcase of environmental technology, running fully on solar power. A wood-fired stove is provided in the fully self-contained kitchen (no microwave or coffee machine though!) and there is also a wood stove in the lounge area for cosy winter evenings. There is no television or WiFi to distract you from the nature all around you!
You can also pitch a tent next to the cabin if someone in your group really wants to camp.

A wood fuel stove is provided for heating and simple cooking. Basic kitchen equipment is provided. Guests must bring their own bedding, linen and all provisions.
A separate bathroom with flush toilet, hot shower and washbasin is situated 50 metres from the bunkhouse. A 6m x 8m outdoor under-cover cooking and eating area with gas barbecue adjoins it. A wood barbecue and campfire (use subject to fire restrictions) are nearby.
Unpowered bush camping sites are located near to the bunkhouse and can be booked in conjunction with the bunkhouse.

Only one booking is taken at a time for the camping and bunkhouse area, meaning that you will not need to share the area with other groups.
Facilities include a six metre by eight metre covered eating area with benches and tables, drinking water from a rainwater tank, gas barbecues, and a bathroom with flush toilet and hot shower. A campfire is also provided (weather permitting).
Campers need to provide their own tents and all provisions. There is no electricity, apart from night lighting.
There is plenty of space for games, and easy forest walks on the property can also be made. More walks and touring can be done in nearby Mount Royal National Park.
