Camel Rock to Murunna Point Walking Track

Natural Attractions

Enjoy a scenic walk along the spectacular coastline between Camel Rock and Murunna Point, under the shadow of Gulaga Mountain.

The elevated 1.5-kilometre walking track stretches from Camel Rock Surf Beach (north Haywards Beach) to Murunna Point, with lookout platforms and big ocean vistas.

The walk can be extended by following the trail to Wallaga Lake Reserve.

Enjoy views of iconic Camel Rock, Horse Head Rock, Gulaga Mountain (Mount Dromedary) and Wallaga Lake, all part of a stunning landscape that is highly culturally significant to the Yuin people.

From August to November, Murunna Point becomes an excellent spot to spot humpback whales as they travel the ‘Humpback Highway’ south to Antarctica.

Camel Rock is an ancient rock formation, comprised of folded 470 million-year-old turbidite beds that were created by underwater avalanches 450 million years ago.

Horse Head Rock is believed to be approximately 500 million years old and is among the oldest rocks in NSW.

Camel Rock Surf Beach is well known for its great surfing, swimming, snorkelling, rock pools to explore and fishing.

Parking is available at Camel Rock Beach car park, found along the unmarked road off Wallaga Lake Road.

If walking from Murunna Point, parking is available at Wallaga Lake Reserve along Wallaga Street.
