Poet’s Corner

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Poet’s Corner is in the northeast corner of Bourke’s Central Park and has memorial stones for local poets and writers – including Henry Lawson, Will Ogilvie, Harry “Breaker” Morant and Francis Humphris Brown.

Henry Lawson wrote some of his most memorable poetry and short stories from his outback experiences in this area during 1891-92.

Located not far from Poet’s Corner is the local Morrall’s Bakery – pop in, get a pie and take a stroll through Poet’s Corner.
