Covering 78 square kilometres, the traditional home of the Worimi people is the largest sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere. Here you will find everything from Aboriginal cultural sites, WW2 fortifications and the hidden, remote outpost of Tin City.
Then for a fun filled activity for all ages why not try a Sand Boarding Adventure? Enjoy the thrill of sand boarding down 60 degree slopes that are 30 metres high!
Best of all there is no time limit. Stay and play in this amazing environment for as long as you like! Experiencing the vast dunes is truly awe inspiring, and they are a photographer’s paradise so don’t forget your camera!

Port Stephens 4WD Tours will pick you up in one of their purpose built four wheel drive vehicles and transport you to the best sand boarding dunes available. Sand boards, instruction, and supervision are provided and you can sand board for as long as you like!
Hop on/Hop off between 9:30am and 3.30pm daily (extended hours during school holidays).
Last shuttle returns to the car park at 4.30pm.

Carpark Family FriendlyThe Tin City Discovery offers the perfect snapshot of this amazing landscape. Explore the 2,500 hectares of sand dunes that make up Stockton Bight, on a fully guided tour in a purpose built 4WD vehicle. Visit “Tin City”, a cluster of fishing shacks made out of corrugated iron located right in the middle of the surrounding sand dunes. Learn about the history of the dunes and the flora and fauna living in this unique landscape.
Feel the wind in your hair and the adrenalin in your chest when you slide down the 30-40 metre high sand dunes.
This tour is not recommended for children under the age of two.
Please note departure times for this tour are dependent on tide and sea conditions, and as such departure times and dates can vary.

The beach and dune tour is designed to give customers a taste of our amazing Australian beaches, walking along and feeling the sand between their toes. This backdrop allows for amazing photos and our guides will give a brief commentary about the beach, and show you the local Pipis, and how to wiggle and find them.
After the beach component, drive up into the dunes for an unlimited Sandboarding Adventure on the largest moving coastal sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere.
