Woronora Memorial Park Cemetery Tours
Things To Do Sutherland, Sutherland Shire, New South Wales
Woronora Memorial Park is a cemetery located in Sutherland and you are invited to explore the rich history and diverse stories of the people who have been laid to rest here. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful and reflective walk, hope you enjoy your experience at this cemetery.
The cemetery was originally part of the Royal National Park, and it was initially intended to be used as a racetrack, but it was later dedicated as a cemetery and officially named Woronora General Cemetery in 1894.
In 1900, the Woronora mortuary train service was established, which operated for almost 50 years. The railway line branched off from the current Sutherland station and travelled into the cemetery, with the station located where the Woronora Memorial Park administration building now stands.
