Prince Alfred Park

Shopping and Markets

Prince Alfred Park borders the eastern side of Central Station, in the lively suburb of Surry Hills. This space has undergone many transformations over the centuries – most recently, an 18-million-dollar redevelopment completed in 2013. Now, Prince Alfred Park encompasses 7.5 hectares of green space in inner Sydney, complete with state-of-the-art facilities.

One of the park’s most popular new features is a 50 metre heated outdoor pool—the first swimming pool of its kind in Sydney. Prince Alfred Park also boasts five tennis courts, two basketball courts and several fitness stations. There are plenty of benches to sit and relax, a large grassy area where dogs can play off leash and new barbecue facilities with custom-designed tables and seating.

With a focus on sustainability, the park’s recent transformation has welcomed hundreds of native plant species, solar lighting, and a 250,000 litre storm water tank which supplies 95 per cent of the park’s water needs. Catch a bus or train to Central Station today and discover the new face of Prince Alfred Park.
