The Big Dig Treasure Hunt

The Big Dig is an annual pirate-themed family event held on Town Beach run by the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise.

Participants, both children and adults, eagerly search the beach for buried tokens and everyone gets a prize. Families, including grandparents and extended members, join in the fun, often dressing up in pirate costumes to enhance the experience.

You can look forward to exciting activities for the whole family including face painting, a jumping castle and bungy jump, rock painting, a dunking station and silent disco while you wait for your dig!

Savor delicious treats, including our Rotary BBQ, special cupcakes, and coffee (for grown-ups!).

The lively ambience is infectious, with Rotary volunteers and many kids (and even some parents!) dressing up as pirates, fully immersing themselves in the day’s festive spirit.

There are loads of prizes being given out at the event!

Every child receives a “treasure” package filled with age-appropriate goodies sourced from various places, thanks to generous sponsors such as Port City Bowling Club, major Platinum sponsor since 2013 and Stihl Shop Port Macquarie, who have come on board as a Gold sponsor this year.

The Family Dig ensures a prize worth a minimum of AUD50, some valued even higher, sometimes reaching hundreds of dollars!
