Kiandra

Place Of Interest

Kiandra was once a bustling town that attracted more than 10,000 men, women and children and saw the construction of banks, hotels and the usual services required by such a large population. In less than a year most of the gold was gone and the population was reduced to just 200 to 300. Today all that remains of Kiandra and its mining era are the cemetery, courthouse and jail, chimneys, cottages, race lines, dams and mullock heaps. A self-guided heritage walk is available for visitors to explore and learn more about this historic location.
