Daintree Boatman Wildlife Cruises

Cruises, Sailing and Water Tours

Daintree Boatman Wildlife Cruises is a small tour business, owned and operated by professional nature guide Murray Hunt, offering premium small-group (max 10 passengers) wildlife cruises on the Daintree River.

Cruises are a special experience, with highly sought after birds, crocodiles and snakes seen on most cruises. Cruises are professionally conducted in a small open comfortable vessel which enables a quiet intimate exploration of the river with close views of wildlife. The vessel used is a unique ‘hybrid’ equipped with a regular outboard and a commercial-quality electric engine. The electric engine reduces disturbance resulting in outstanding close views of wildlife.

Two-hour cruises are conducted at dawn & late afternoon, when the river is at its most picturesque, sunlight, is at its best for photography, and when birds are at their most active.

Private charters for an hour or more are available for small groups wanting to experience the Daintree River at its best.

Cruises depart from the boat ramp in Daintree Village.

Early morning cruises are spectacular! Dawn offers the best conditions for those wishing to see the river at its most stunning, as well as the greatest chance to see some of the most sought-after birds and animals of the river. Cruises are a holistic experience, seeking out key birds, snakes and crocodiles, as well as insight into the ecology of the Daintree.

Cruises are two hours in duration. For about half the cruise, the vessel is powered by a commercial quality outboard, allowing an intimate quiet exploration of the river and smaller tributaries. Additionally the use of the electric outboard reduces wildlife disturbance resulting in outstanding wildlife observations.

There are few better places to be than watching a sunset whilst cruising on the Daintree River!

Late afternoon cruises are often spectacular, watching crocodiles and birds foraging before nightfall. Advantages of cruising in the late afternoon include avoiding the heat of the day, as well experiencing the splendour of the golden light late in the day, hopefully before a colourful sunset.
