Enjoy the Thomson River just a short drive from Longreach, have a picnic in the park or along the banks of the river. A great location to watch the sunrise or sunset colours reflect off the water. Take some nibbles and enjoy a sunset view from the pedestrian bridge or Apex Park.

Take advantage of the boat ramp put in your boat or kayak in and explore the river or even go for a swim. Take a walk along the banks of the river and discover the wildlife and maybe even snap a photo or two. Do you like to throw a line in?? Well you won’t be disappointed when fishing along the banks of the Thomson River with Yellowbelly, Black Brim or a Yabbie or two.

Have you ever see the stars without all the city lights? Take a quick drive out of Longreach and check out the sky. We suggest heading out towards to the Thomson River and Apex Park for some Star Gazing.

Camping fees do apply. AUD3 per vehicle per night or AUD27 per vehicle for seven nights. There is a honesty box at the Apex Park or you can pay camping fees at the Longreach Visitor Information Centre.
