Boat Rock Dive Site

Natural Attractions

Boat Rock is an action-packed dive site located off Brisbane’s North Stradbroke Island. While always a sensational dive, it is the least visited dive site in the area as it is generally washed by strong currents, is a tricky spot to anchor and is a site best suited to experienced divers. This tiny outcrop barely breaks the surface and its steep sides drop straight to 25 metres. If you rush your dive you can circumnavigate the base of Boat Rock on a single dive, but there is also a maze of rocky gutters and ledges to explore around this rocky pinnacle in depths to 30 metres.

The coral growth at Boat Rock is very average, but you don’t dive this site to look at corals as you are likely to see schools of trevally, kingfish, fusiliers, surgeonfish, snapper and mackerel. Also common are wobbegongs, Queensland gropers, stingrays, spotted eagle rays, turtles and even the odd bronze whaler shark.
