Kondalilla National Park

National Parks and Reserves

Kondalilla National Park is a cool mountain retreat in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Kondalilla, an Aboriginal word meaning ‘rushing waters’, describes this park’s waterfall during the summer wet season, where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley. Above the falls, tall open eucalypt forest mingles with rainforest species while drier forest of casuarinas and grass trees grow on the western escarpment.

A refuge for many species of native animals and plants, Kondalilla National Park is a popular place for birdwatchers and nature photographers as well as bushwalkers. Discover scenic views over the waterfall, and enjoy rock pools and freshwater creeks along the park’s walking tracks. Relax in the day-use area which is ideal for picnics and can be reached on an easy 1.7 kilometre Picnic Creek circuit. For more of a challenge, take on the 4.6 kilometre Kondalilla Falls circuit or a section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk.
