Cardwell Museum & Heritage Precinct is located on the Bruce Highway at the address 53 Victoria Street, Cardwell.

Heading North into Cardwell turn left into Balliol Street for plenty of parking. including for long-vehicles (RV’s, caravans)

This is a historic precinct set in the site of the old ‘Cardwell Telegraph and Post Office’ (now known as the Bush Telegraph) which was built in 1870 and is one of the oldest buildings in North Queensland.

Today you can wander around the Historic post office and telegraph station, old shire hall, courthouse and lock-up and at the same time get information on local places, tours and where to stay.

Cardwell is gateway to Hinchinbrook Island’s great walk the Thorsborne Trail, Kirrama Range road, waterfalls and adventures of Forest Drive, and some of the best fishing in Australia
