If you are looking for things to do in the Gympie region, then a visit to the regions Visitor Information Centre is a must. Located on the southern entry to Gympie on the Bruce Highway at the Lake Alford Recreational Park. This is a popular stopover for traveler’s offering ample parking, picnic & barbecue facilities, all abilities children’s playground, and off the dog leash park.

The Information Centre provides a wealth of information for visitors to the region including maps, visitor guides, national parks material, sale of souvenirs, free Wi-Fi and also issues gold fossicking license’s for the state.

Gympie is known as the town that saved Queensland when gold was found in 1860. It is steeped in history and offers visitors the chance to learn more through strolling the heritage trail, visiting the Gold and Woodworks museums and don’t forget a ride on the Mary Valley Rattler. The coastal towns of Tin Can Bay and every-appealing Rainbow Beach offer breathtaking nature experiences. Rainbow Beach via Inskip Point offers the southern gateway to the world heritage K’gari. To the west of the highway are the quaint villages of the Mary Valley and frontier towns of Kilkivan and Goomeri. You will be surprised at just how much there is to explore in the Gympie Region.
