A unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Cecil Madigan as we follow his 1939 camel trek across the Northern Simpson Desert. The Simpson Desert is the largest parallel sand dune system in the world with over 1100 sand dunes to cross. We 4WD across a track that links his camps together in one of the remotest places in Australia.
Our 14 day Tag along Tour starts in Coober Pedy and makes it’s way to ‘Camp 25’ in Birdsville, celebrating with a tour dinner at the iconic Birdsville Hotel! You’ll be amongst the very few who have done this track and we take our time, spending 8 days on the Madigan Line itself. We train as we go and when it’s done properly using the correct (low) tyre pressures, gear selection and track maintenance where necessary, we’ve proven over the years that taking trailers is not an issue.
From Birdsville we head down the iconic Birdsville Track to Marree and on through the northern Flinders Ranges and back to Quorn in the central Flinders Ranges.
