Your visit to The Cedars may include touring both Hans Heysen’s studio – Australia’s oldest artist’s studio able to be viewed– and Nora Heysen’s studio, as well as the Heysen family home.

Some 200 original works of art can be seen in changing displays in the studios and the house.

All visitors are welcome to spend time in the charming Artist’s Garden that changes with the seasons, visit the Cedars Cafe & Tea Rooms, or wander along the Artist’s Walk and discover some of Heysen’s favoured painting sites.

Services

From $20 to $22

A guided tour of the Heysen Home & Hans Heysen’s Studio where you can view some 200 original works of art, this tour will take approximately 1 hour to complete. Listen to our knowledgeable guides as they share the fascinating stories that the Cedars has to share. You may then spend the rest of your visit visiting Nora Heysen’s studio, the Artist’s Walk, the Artist’s Garden & the historic coach house. Why not plan to spend the whole day and bring a picnic lunch? We are open from 10am to 4:30pm and daily tours are held at 11am and 2pm.

Pack a picnic, a rug and enjoy the expansive gardens at the historic home of Sir Hans Heysen. At $5 per person, the garden ticket is a cost effective way to immerse yourself in a beautiful environment in the Adelaide Hills to explore the garden, bird-watch, take photos and enjoy the tranquility. Bring along your sneakers and explore the famous ‘Artist’s Walk’ which takes in spectacular views of the Hahndorf area and takes you to some of Heysen’s favourite painting spots.
