Parara Whale Memorial

Landmarks and Buildings

Approximately 5 kms south of Ardrossan there is a memorial constructed in memory of 7 whales which beached themselves in 2014.
The Arrium Mine and the local school children where involved. Dolomite rocks from the mine were used and the children named the whales. A plaque was placed on each rock telling the name chosen, whale type and weight.
