The Ballarat Hidden Lanes tours feature two options – one is a guided walking tour and the other is a self-guided tour. They both focus on similar things, however the guided tour is shorter (just 2.5hrs) and focuses on uncovering intriguing stories and includes a cuppa and Ballarat print. The self-guided tour is a longer day/half day walk and focuses more on walking, and is perfect if you love exploring on foot.

The journeys focus on hidden stories, intriguing laneways, quirky antique / gift stores, and beautiful scenery.

Runs Wednesday-Saturdays as a self-guided tour between 10:30am-4:00pm and for the guided tour is on most weekends, and also on demand Wednesday-Sunday for small groups.

Hidden Lanes is a slow travel self-guided tour that takes around two – four hours walking or one – two hours riding a bicycle/scooter.

The digital guidebook incorporates quirky shops and cafes to visit, history audio podcasts, open artist studios and gallery, and inspiring short films.

This art and culture self-guided tour starts at the Lost Ones Makers Studio with a fun art workshop run by Ballarat artist Pauline O’Shannessy-Dowling. Ticketed event – limited to 10 people per event. Starts at 10:00am at The Lost Ones Makers Studio, runs until 2:00pm. From there, you will follow your special Hidden Lanes self-guided tour, discovering artwork, history tales and beautiful scenery. Along the way you will also have lunch and drink and a culinary treat (included in the ticket cost).
