Mokoan Discovery Trail

Sports and Recreation Facilities

To the east of Benalla lies the Mokoan Discovery Trail. Stretching from Sydney Road to the Winton Wetlands, this gravel walking and cycle path awaits exploration, while native vegetation planted by local environmental groups enhances the region’s natural beauty and biodiversity.

Embark on the 20 kilometre Mokoan Discovery Trail starting at Witt Street in Benalla and follow the trail into the heart of the Winton Wetlands. As you journey along this trail, experience the interplay between rural landscapes and a revegetated waterway ecosystem firsthand.

Once a drainage channel, the Holland Bio Link has undergone a remarkable transformation into an important wildlife corridor. It provides a safe haven for endangered native species, such as the Regent Honeyeater, and is a must-visit for avid bird watchers. This area is inviting nature lovers of all ages and abilities, with a shorter experience starting at the carpark where the Mokoan Inlet Channel crosses Sydney Road.

Come and discover the Mokoan Discovery Trail for yourself.
