Monument Hill Reserve

Natural Attractions

Located an hour north of Melbourne in Kilmore, Monument Hill Reserve is a fantastic recreational area perfect for activities such as bush-walking and horse riding.

Situated at the top of the Hill is the Hume and Hovell monument. This was erected to honour the explorers whose expedition played a significant role in establishing the colony of Victoria. The monument is a watchtower from the former Kilmore Gaol. From the top of the monument visitors can look out over Kilmore and the surrounding countryside.

From the monument, follow one of the walking tracks that leads down the ridge to the golf course, cricket club or Kilmore Hospital Reservoir. Local wildlife is abundant. Lizards, birds, echidnas, kangaroos and wallabies can be spotted around the reserve.
