Natural Attractions

Bridgewater Bay is popular with families for it’s extensive rock pools which are great to explore at low tide. The bay forms a large natural amphitheater surrounded by impressive sandstone cliffs. There is a sandy section of beach between the rock formations. The beach is not patrolled and considered dangerous for swimming due to the exposed rocks, reefs, and surf. Keep an eye on the tides and waves, and wear sensible footwear as some of the rocks are covered in slippery seaweed.

A walking track to the bay starts at a small car park at the end of St Johns Wood Road and a steep staircase descends from the cliffs to the beach below. Stunning views are available from the walking track west towards Spray Point and as you descend the staircase to the beach. The beach is also accessible as part of the Coastal Walk.
