The Zu Kite Club is Melbourne’s favourite kiteboarding school specialising in lessons of all levels from complete beginners to advanced riders.
You can get a quick taste of kiteboarding by taking a two-hour lesson by yourself or with someone else. Or you can also dive head first and take the Full 6h Course which will get you safely from rigging up the gear to trying the board.
The Zu also offers other services such as progression clinics for those who are looking to get their riding to the next level, equipment hire for travellers, Club social events, and trips around the country and the globe during the season (Oct-April) and in the off-season.
The Zu staff are a group of young, enthusiastic and highly qualified instructors who are all passionate about the sport. They strive to grow a safe and lively kiting community in Melbourne by providing the best instructions and customer service.
Services
From $719 to $969
This six-hour course is designed for people who have never touched a kite before, structured to get you from zero to riding the board safely.
All equipment you need (including wetsuits) are provided.You will have two hour lessons on three separate days.
Step 1 – Kite Control
In the first 30 minutes to an hour, you will learn about the wind, how to set-up the kite and learn important safety procedures on the beach. The rest of the session, you will be learning how to pilot the kite in the water.
Step 2 – Body Drags
In this step you will learn more advanced kite control in the water. You will learn how to let the kite pull you in different directions, how to start creating power and learn an important safety procedure called the “self-rescue”.
Step 3 – Board Riding
Putting it all together! During this step, you will learn the skills required to stand up on the board and get riding. This step is designed to equip you with all the skills you need to practice on your own and go from riding to ripping.

If you’ve taken lessons before but need a refresher, this is also the perfect way to get back into kiting.

Designed for people who don’t live close to St. Kilda or Melbourne.
This all-day course is designed for people who have never touched a kite before, structured to get you from 0 to riding the board safely in one day.
Total up to seven hours of lessons (weather permitting) in one day including lunch and coffee at the West Beach Pavilion.
