Hand-built Kites Workshop at the Rare Trades Centre

For thousands of years, kites have allowed human beings to possess the sky. People throughout the world have used their imaginations to design these fragile but brilliant objects. Kites have given wings those who hold their strings.

In this full-day workshop, you will create your own kite with Tim Denton by bending cane into whatever shape and style you like, glueing bemsilk onto the frame and decorating using marker pens and spirit dye blended with methylated spirits.

Held at Ballarat’s Australian Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades, a world-class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events, and residencies.
