Waves Unchartered

Warrnambool artist jenny Vick has been painting for just over ten years and this is her first solo exhibition; the result of a wave of productivity. Her medium of choice is oils and she is motivated when painting to create realist images. Working from her own photos and her objective is to convey the sense of the scene before her. The addition of detail is the challenge she relishes a process that bringing the paintings to life.

Jenny’s inspiration primarily comes from the natural landscapes that surround her, both local and afar. This group of paintings is dominated by local scenes, but also featured are some locations from memorable journeys interstate and overseas.

In regard to the title “Waves Unchartered” this exhibition of paintings doesn’t necessarily include the ocean but are a reference to the “Waves” of life. Some are familiar and re-occurring and others new and difficult to navigate. All the waves remind me to keep diving in and ride the surf the best way possible.
