Wren Estate, recently named one of the “Top Ten Best New Wineries” by James Halliday, is a Halliday 5 Star boutique winery in the heart of the premium wine region of Heathcote, in Central Victoria, famed for high quality Shiraz production.

The soils and climate of Heathcote are unique and contribute to the world class wines produced here. The red Cambrian soils that run through central Heathcote are over 500 million years old. Warm days and cool nights provide wonderfully balanced ripeness and elegance in the wines.

Wren Estate is a small batch producer of award winning super premium wines using Shiraz, Malbec, Merlot Marsanne and Roussanne. The range runs from trophy winning merlot, incredibly pretty and fruit pure shiraz up to powerful yet elegant Shiraz that can spend up to 30 months in barrel as well as wonderful blends of Shiraz/Roussanne/Marsanne and Malbec/Merlot/Shiraz.

Winemaker Michael Wren, who spent ten years as a flying winemaker for Esporao, one of Portugal’s most highly awarded wineries, has designed the winery with small batch production in mind. Michael is a huge fan of the ‘lagares’ – low, wide open fermenters that are traditionally used to make Port wine in the Douro.
