Fitzroy’s haven for authentic American pizza, Deep End, is excited to announce the upcoming Cheese Pull Championship in celebration of its first birthday on Saturday, June 24.
Deep End will open its doors to their first ever lunch service, and the event will continue through to dinner service until the winner is announced at the end of the day.
In its first year of business, Deep End has gone through around 10 tonnes of cheese and flour respectively to craft their beloved New York, Detroit and Chicago deep-dish pizzas.
The Cheese Pull Championship rules are simple. Diners pick up a slice of the Chicago pizza with the spatula, pull the cheese along a ruler situated at the bar, mark the length of the pull, and post a photo to social media. The competition will be divided into four time slots, and the diner who marks the longest cheese pull from each time slot wins.
Participants have the chance to win a stack of prizes including vouchers and limited-edition Deep End merch. The ultimate winner will earn themselves the title of “Cheese Pull Champion” and a free 5kg Deep Dish pizza for 8-10 friends.
