Kambarang

Cottages

Kambarang is located two-and-a-half hours from Perth Central Business District in 100 acres of beautiful bushland with self-contained eco-cabin accommodation, plus 10 kilometres of mountain bike/walk trails.

Surrounded by forest, the eco-cabin has a hot rainwater shower, a double bed up in the loft (wake up in the treetops) and two single beds downstairs. The eco-cabin is built using recycled and sustainable, non-toxic materials and all cleaning products are unscented or lightly naturally scented.

The cabin operates on a small off-grid solar power system which is very simple to use. There is a gas stove with grill and oven and a wood-heater for winter which keeps the cabin warm and cosy. There is also a stovetop to cook a delicious slow cook soup or your dinner if you feel inclined instead of using the gas stove.

Note: Access to the loft is by ladder stair so it is not appropriate for the frail elderly, disabled or very small children. There’s a double bed in the loft and a single bed downstairs.

The wildflowers in spring are a delight with numerous native orchids.

Services

Surrounded by forest, the cabin is a quiet, peaceful escape from your real world. Numerous types of small birds will entertain you while you relax with a morning cuppa on the verandah. Walk the trails to truly absorb the delights of nature. In spring the diversity of wildflowers will fascinate once you get your ‘wildflower eyes’ tuned in.

The cabin is fully self-contained, with hot rainwater shower (great for your hair and skin), double bed up in the loft (wake up in the tree tops) and two single beds downstairs, plus a couple of floor mattresses for extra children. A cosy fireplace for winter warmth can be used to heat up your dinner or produce a slow cook meal – or there is the gas stove.

April to December is absolutely beautiful away from the coast in the south west of Western Australia. Lush and green and without the strong coastal winds, it is lovely even when it is raining. Kambarang is above the frost line and some mornings you can look down on a mist in the valley below while enjoying the colours of the sunrise turning the trees to orange and gold and bouncing off the clouds above.

Looking for a true bush camping experience for an event or family/friends gathering?  If you are regular campers and have your own camp toilets or are prepared to hire portaloos, then they can host a group of up to 30 people. Contact them to discuss your group’s dream bush camping event. You are assured of an exclusive and peaceful stay amongst the trees, surrounded by beautiful bushland and with distant views. Choose your spot to sit with your sundowner drink for some great sunsets.

The campsite consists of a few cleared areas amongst the trees suitable for a tent, campervan or small caravan (large caravans and recreational vehicles won’t be able to access the property), with a number of campfire pits (campground closed December to March each year for bushfire reasons).

Firewood is provided (included in camping fee) for your campfire enjoyment, with kindling provided for your first night – you collect your kindling for subsequent nights.

Facilities include a hot shower and one composting toilet (the number of toilets you will need to supply depends on the number of campers), a gas barbecue and a sink for dishes (non-potable water supplied for shower and dishes). So bring everything you’re going to need including drinking water for a perfect wilderness experience.
