The National Gallery of Australia is home to the most valuable collection of art in Australia. The national collection comprises over 155,000 works of art, including the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.
Make the most of your visit by joining a guided tour with a friendly and knowledgeable Voluntary Guide. Tours can take visitors through the collection, or allow you to explore current exhibitions.

Home to the most valuable collection of art in Australia, the national collection comprises over 155,000 works of art, including the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, and some of the finest examples in Australia of modern art from Europe, America, Asia and the Pacific.
Collection tours run daily at 10.30am and 2pm and run for 60 minutes.
Bookings are recommended, with limited walk-up spots available on the day. Please note, that tours are for a maximum of 15 people and are subject to availability on the day.

When you book your tour ticket, you will be prompted to purchase a timed exhibition ticket for that entry time.
For those who can’t make a tour, guides will also be delivering free daily Art Chats inside the exhibition space at 10.30am and 2pm.

Anmatyerr artist Emily Kam Kngwarray was one of the most significant contemporary painters in the latter part of the 20th century and is renowned for her unique depictions of Country and energetic interpretations of ancient traditions.
Join a 60-minute tour led by a National Gallery Volunteer Guide looking at the most important works from her oeuvre, from early, vibrant batiks to her later monumental paintings on canvas.
Private Tours of Emily Kam Kngwarray are available Monday to Friday between 1pm–4pm. Bookings are subject to availability, minimum of 2 people and up to 15 people per group.
