Often working out of sight – squirreled away in garage studios, spare bedrooms and self-managed spaces – Gungahlin is full of artists creating, contributing to their communities and adding depth to the culture of the Canberra region.

Inhabited features works by eight such artists who live or work in the region. Featuring textiles, painting, woodwork, mixed media, assemblage and more, this exhibition begins to uncover some of the breadth of practice that is happening in the community. Inhabited aims to contribute to a dialogue that centres Gungahlin as a creative and vibrant district where artists are considered an integral part of the fabric of Canberra’s geographic identity.
