Young Heritage Walks

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

You’re never far from places of historical significance when you visit Young because the town is steeped in history. One of the best ways to embrace the past and interact with some of the most noteworthy landmarks is by taking a self directed heritage town walk.

Two heritage walks are currently recommended and both start from the Young Visitor Information Centre at the former Railway Station on Anderson Park. There is plenty to learn about the town from the days on the Lambing Flat goldfields through to Young’s current status as a thriving town in a rich rural setting.

Marvel at some of the historic buildings like the old court house located alongside Carrington Park, consider the workmanship of the Young Visitor Information Centre and former railway station.

Young’s record as the first town in NSW to have electric lights in both streets and private homes is just one fact that will be revealed.
