Rangoon Island, Minnamurra

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Rangoon Island, otherwise known as Stack Island, was named after an 1870 shipwreck.

Located north of Kiama at the mouth of the Minnamurra River, the island offers some remarkable coastal scenery formed by basalt rock formations. The only inhabitants of the island are scores of local sea birds.

The best views of the island are obtained from the cliffs of the Minnamurra Headland which is part of the Kiama Coast Walk.
