Sawn Rocks Walking Track

Natural Attractions

The magnificent Sawn Rocks are one of Australia’s best examples of a rock formation called ‘organ-piping’ – because they look like a wall of giant organ pipes. They are a fascinating reminder of Mount Kaputar’s volcanic past.

It’s a short and easy 15-minute walk along the shady track to the lookout at the foot of Sawn Rocks. To get the perfect photograph, it’s worth timing your visit to reach the rocks after midday when the sun is shining directly on the striking cliff face. Treat yourself to a well deserved picnic or barbecue at the lovely Sawn Rocks picnic area on your return.
